About the Project

Many Southern Christian universities have covenant guidelines that prohibit same sex relationships and mandate students identify with their birth sex. On the extreme end of the spectrum, they have conversion therapy programs

Believers constantly encounter the question of whether or not Christians who affirm God’s authority in scripture are able to simultaneously affirm the LGBTQIA+ community. This question will steer “Part of the Kingdom”’s narrative, and I will call attention toward this division among the Christian community, which is a large part of humanity's sexuality spectrum. Upon doing research on this topic, “...increasingly, even for Christian’s who affirm the Bible’s full authority, the traditional understanding has become harder to accept. Especially for younger believers, the trouble starts when we put names, faces, and outcomes to what the traditional interpretation means in practice” (Vines 28). Here we will apply names, faces, and consequences to those impacted by the culture and guidelines of religious universities.
